Socks Bulletins and FAQs
-
Q: Why does Socks appear to lock-up when verifying the volume structure of the startup volume?
A: This is normal behavior. Checking the startup volume requires putting the volume
into "HFS Freeze State" to prevent the reading or writing of data. Depending on the size of the volume and the number
of files, the process can take 1-10+ minutes. Progress information will not be available during the check, but normal
interface behavior will resume when the verification is complete.

Q: In Tiger or Panther my keychain won't save passwords after cleaning caches.
A: Versions 1.0 - 1.0.2 contained a bug sometimes causing the incorrect setting
of file permissions on new temporary file directories. This problem has been corrected in 1.1, and running 1.1 or later
on a problematic machine will correct the issue.

Q: Will Socks support future versions of Mac OS?

-
Q: How long is a registration for Socks valid?

2.0 will likely incur a small upgrade fee.
