A: No. In fact, you shouldn't. Uninstalling will remove the System Optimizer X preferenes file which will erase your settings, and your registration code. The installer will do all the work for you.
  • Q: Why do all of my document icons appear generic after I Optimize / Clean Cache?

A: Document icons will appear generic because the cache file containing that information was removed. Log out and log back in, or restart again to make the icons re-appear.
